Very nice job Jeff. This is certainly a curious meteorite. I've been passing a magnet over the slices in my collection and have noticed a few things. The pale, grey speckled areas that appear fresh have little to no attraction to a rare earth magnet. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was an achondrite. However the brown veined sections are clearly attracted and the thick dark veins practically pull the magnet out of my hands. Are the veins hematite from weathering of iron-rich meteorite or something else? Any comments and observations from the group would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob On Jan 8, 2008 6:56 AM, <SPACEROCKSINC at aol.com> wrote: > http://www.rocksfromspace.org/January_8_2008.html Received on Tue 08 Jan 2008 10:30:26 AM PST |
