I personall= y would regard 0.25g of Calcalong Creek as 'huge'!=0D =0D =0D Research, that is the key, both for buyers and sellers!=0D =0D thanks for your indulgence=0D =0D =0D dave=0D =0D =0D IMCA#0092 =0D =0D -------Original Message-------=0D =0D From: Tom aka James Knudson=0D Date: Friday, October 10, 2003 20:45:46=0D To: Howard Wu; Dave Harris; metlist=0D Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] eBay policemen?=0D =0D Hello List, Please correct me if I am wrong! Please try to be polite when doing so! : ) =0D I think it hurts us all when some one uses misleading tactics to sell meteorites. Why do I think that? I will tell you. Ebay is by far the best= , cheapest and easiest place to get meteorites. Lets say someone new goes = on ebay and sees a 2000g Campo described as "HUGE" and looks around and ther= e is no Campo larger on ebay at the time, the buyer goes back to the auctio= n and finds a IMCA link, clicks on it and learns what a honest bunch of sellers IMCA members are. The new buyer even clicks on a few links and do= es not see a Campo that big on any of the sites. The buyer will feel like he= is getting a Huge Campo at a great price. He goes back to the auction and us= es Buy it now. He gets it and is thrilled with this Huge Campo. =0D He gets the "BUG" and goes back to Ebay to look around. This time he fi= nds a 94lb Campo, but his campo was huge? So what is a buyer to think? DON"T TRUST THEM DISHONEST IMCA MEMBERS, that whole bunch are full of #&%$(# !!= !!! =0D Now what, buy from none IMCA members, OK, and it turns out to be slag! O= h well, this meteorite collecting thing sucks! You can not trust anyone! =0D I do know, one important part of selling, is you need buyers. If no one wants to buy meteorites, no one can sell them!!! =0D I live in AZ, and it is still summer here, still in the high 90's, to ho= t for GB, so all my meteorite hunting is done on ebay! I am just telling yo= u all of my hunting adventures. : ) =0D All I am trying to get across is that honesty is the best policy. If you have a 2k Holbrook, tell people it is huge!!! If you have a 2k campo, say= it is nice sized or something, save HUGE for the huge Campos! =0D Thanks, Tom=0D wondering if I should be the proudest member of the IMCA 6168=0D ----- Original Message ----- =0D From: Howard Wu =0D To: Dave Harris ; metlist =0D Sent: Friday, October 10, 2003 11:13 AM=0D Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] eBay policemen?=0D =0D =0D I joined this list in part so I wouldn't be so stupid about faux meteorit= es or over priced scams.=0D =0D Howard Wu=0D =0D Dave Harris <entropydave_at_ntlworld.com> wrote:=0D Hi,=0D I have to throw in my 2g's worth here - seems that some people on the lis= t=0D spend too much of their time trawling eBay looking for auctions to critic= ise=0D and debunk and publish their 'findings' to the list.=0D Fine in principle, but we are not here to police eBay - I think that "Cav= eat=0D Emptor" should prevail here.
