[meteorite-list] Humourless idiot eats humble pie

List members,

I was upset when I wrote my remarks
earlier, however that is no excuse for
making my comments personal and for
that I unreservedly apologise. I hope
those I have offended can accept my
apology.

That said I would like to explain why
I was upset.

I value the meteorite list as it is a
place where like minded individuals
can share our enthusiasm for the
subject of meteorites.

I found the web site that Matteo
mentioned offensive because it is
taking the p--- out of someone based
on the way they look or what they
write or say. In my humble opinion
good humour is no excuse for bad
taste, no matter how well it is done.
The sort of humour I enjoy is Dave's
story about his last meteorite hunt,
with its gentle irony and self
deprecatory humour. I don't agree with
making fun of other people,
particularly in a public forum like
the internet.

To me the web site concerned
represents anonymous hate mail. I
haven't read the followups to my post,
but I would be interested to know if
anyone has owned up to authoring the site.
They have abused copyright, altered
the images then posted them with a
smartarse commentary.

Is this the sort of thing other
members can expect if they upset
certain individuals?
