This is beginning to sound like one of those cases where someone witnesses
a fireball, and the first rock they find they mistakenly assume is the meteorite from
the fall, when in fact it is just an Earth rock. This mistake has been made many,
many times.

The rock can be sent off to a lab and tested. But if Alan says it is not a meteorite,
then that is good enough for me.
