Peary is Going North Again
WASHINGTON, April 17. - The Navy Department is making a great mystery ove=
r its action in detaching Civil Enginer R. E. Peary from the Brooklyn Nav=
y Yard and placing him on waiting orders. It was said yesterday that the =
order had been issued at Lieut. Peary's request, and that he gave no reas=
on in his application. To-day, however, it was learned that Lieut. Peary =
contemplates another exploring expedition, and had so informed the depart=
ment, but for some reason it was desired to keep this information secret.
