Jeannie,
The material you bought could be oxidized Canyon Diablo material collected
on the surface just outside the canyon rim. H. H. Nininger used some of
this in some copies of his little booklet, A Comet Strikes The Earth.
This may or may not be what you have, but you might have someone check it
out for you.
The person should however return your money if you are not satisfied, even
if it is from Meteor Crater.

Well, it turns out that I got a nice big baggie full of shale that came in a box with no return address. Grrrrr. I've kicked myself about a dozen times for not checking out my source better. I feel like such a dope! Well, now this person refuses to let me send the material back for a refund, even though I have nicely explained why this material is not what I wanted and I am unhappy with it.

I am really hoping that this can be resolved. Either way, I guess I learned a good lesson.

I have surfed around, but cannot find a good source for an article or explanation. I found a couple little things but nothing that really says what I need it to say in language that a non-collector (the claims person at Visa) would easily understand.
