Meteorite Association: with the falling prices due to a=20 plethora of new finds and the growing number of new=20 dealers I continue to be amazed that a association has=20 not yet been formed... (Dealers - protect your investments by increasing your customer base - how? - public education from a association with assumed authority. Should you associate I have many ideas in this area to contribute; in fact, if formed, I will be willing to work in this arena) A association can present uniform systematics (Is Weatherford a CHungr or a bencubbinite? Is Cumberland Falls a aubrite or a "F" chondrite? and so on) A association can tighten definations (What IS a speck, micro, macro, crust, fragment, slice/part slice, end cut, main mass, pairing, and so on) A association can be self promoting (extensive links to member dealers, supplies, photos, microscopes, periodicals, books, chat, and so on...) I consider many dealer web sites as wonderful sources for information and applaud these labor intensive efforts. A association might begin with at least 3 divisions: =20 a) Information (vast possibilities here) b) Dealers and collector/dealers (allowing input from collectors) c) Collectors only (allowing input from dealers) The opportunities are endless...take the plunge 2.
