I am a teacher and I am considering buying a sample of the Allende
meteorite to use in classes (kids love holding bits of outerspace!). The
sample I am presently considering has dirt on it (terrestrial, I assume)
and I need to know how to clean it so the chondriles can be seen. I don't
want to make the investment if it is not safe to clean the fragment. If
any of you out there have suggestions I would love to hear from you. The
fragment is about 15 grams and has some fusion crust (which I of course do
not want to wash off) and a coating of what looks like ordinary brown
earthly soil. In advance, many thanks for your time and help, Bill Sawyer
