See link below for some photos of a cast of the impact pit made by the famous Middlesbrough meteorite on 14th March 1881. (https://www.flickr.com/photos/94515040 at N03/sets/72157646778504309/) I know lots of you now have a cast of the Middlesbrough meteorite so i thought you may be interested in seeing a cast of the Middlesbrough impact pit that i acquired back in 2011 but have just uncovered in my garage today Not yet mounted it properly in a display case but i plan on making a replica wooden crate which is how it was originally housed when the pit was originally dug up. The meteorite is housed at the Yorkshire Museum in York and more info on the historic meteorite fall can be seen here: (http://www.yorkshiremuseum.org.uk/collections-2/collections-highlights/the-middlesbrough-meteorite/) Enjoy :-) Cheers Martin -- Martin Goff www.msg-meteorites.co.uk IMCA #3387Received on Wed 03 Sep 2014 02:18:27 PM PDT |
