After reading about the incident on the PARI site it seems like there were very good pictures taken of the suspected thieves when they were casing the facility the Friday before the break in. If possible, would also be helpful to have their pictures. Furthermore, the weights would also be very useful. I doubt that they would try to break these specimens before trying to sell. I am hoping that the facility was properly insured though I realize that some of these may be very difficult to ever replace. Hoping that the New year brings news ... ?Mendy Ouzillou >________________________________ > From: Anne Black <impactika at aol.com> >To: john at meteoriteusa.com; meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com >Sent: Friday, December 28, 2012 12:33 PM >Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] ALERT: Large number of meteorites stolen > >Thank you John for that list, and thank you Mike for the pictures. > >The Tucson Show is only a month away and some of those pieces might very well re-surface there as it is quite common when you have a show-room to see people come in and offer to sell you some meteorites. I believe we should watch for that. >A few of the meteorites on that list and on pictures are quite rare and could be easy to spot, the St Aubain with a lot of rust for instance. Or Aubres, or Bristol, or Stalldaler. Or the Forsyth County; as far as I know I am the only one with a slice of Forsyth and mine is not at all square, so anyone who tries to sell a square slice of Forsyth would be highly suspect in my eyes. > >Comments? > > >Anne M.
