For us observers with smalll scopes, what is the visual magnitude of the Crab now? FWIW, I got my Messier qualification from the Astronomical League for big binoculars and Deep Sky. I think at last count, I had bagged about 80 Messiers and about 50 NGC/IC objects using 100mm binoculars. It was fun. :) Best regards, MikeG -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Galactic Stone & Ironworks - Meteorites & Amber (Michael Gilmer) Website - http://www.galactic-stone.com Facebook - http://tinyurl.com/42h79my News Feed - http://www.galactic-stone.com/rss/126516 Twitter - http://twitter.com/galacticstone EOM - http://www.encyclopedia-of-meteorites.com/collection.aspx?id=1564 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On 7/4/11, Gary Fujihara <fujmon at mac.com> wrote: > Cosmic Fireworks: On July 4, 1054, Chinese astronomers observed a "guest > star" in the constellation Taurus, the result of a star exploding or going > Supernova.
