It was represented as a meteorite when it first surfaced on the market. Many collectors paid top dollar for this new "pallasite" and later it was revealed to be a fake. A lot of people have a sour taste in their mouth for Shirokovsky. Now it is sold as a meteorwrong and buyers know they are getting a manmade material that resembles a pallasite in some respects. As far as I know, nobody knows exactly how it was made or exactly who made it. What is certain is - it is *not* meteorite, and a lot of people paid good money for it thinking it was a pallasite.
