As last week we had a similar pairing situation. This time the O-isotopes may not be the answer. As all Angrites should match in that department. Dr. Irving may not post to this list but, if he says it's paired then it is paired. Please keep in mind that differences in heterogeneites are always going to occur. These rocks were not made with a blender set on high. This is a natural rock that is no different than any other rock. None of them look exactly alike with the same exact inclusions. Clearly as Adam said this is worthy of purchase and is a truly remarkable Angrite. Again, Dr Irving knows a thing or two about how this works. 2 more cents. I would really like to see all the supporting data, what are the classification results and provisional number? I'ts not proper conduct for a IMCA member to make unsubstantiated claims or jump the gun on preliminary testing. I would like to see this new Angrite double and triple checked, and recognized as a official meteorite before such claims are made, especially since its a IMCA member making such claims. I wouldn't mind so much if the claimed pairings looked identical and had very strong supporting evidence, but one look at the new stone and this is clearly not the case. More testing must be done, and supporting evidence is nowhere to be found. > > I don't want to come off as mean, but I think this story is kind of ironic coming from a guy who just shot down every dealer who sells NWA 869, then turns around and breaks the rules, that damages the integrity of the classification process... > > Good Luck on the next steps of the classification process of this new and exciting meteorite! > > Have a Great Day! > John Higgins > > > > > ----- Original Message ---- > From: Adam Hupe <raremeteorites at yahoo.com> > To: Adam <meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com> > Sent: Tue, June 22, 2010 9:32:25 PM > Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Angrite with 1cm Translucent crystals... a WOW moment! > > I agree that it is a totally awesome meteorite and a rare one too. I think collectors would be even more interested in a specimen that carried its own nomenclature. An Angrite, paired or not will stand on its own. Even though this meteorite is likely paired, it has its own special characteristics that may make it more desirable as illustrated in your images. > > Best Regards, > > Adam > ______________________________________________ > Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html > Meteorite-list mailing list > Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list > > > > > ______________________________________________ > Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html > Meteorite-list mailing list > Meteorite-list at meteoritecentral.com > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-listReceived on Wed 23 Jun 2010 11:17:52 AM PDT |
