Hi Ben, Svend, Mark, List,

Svend make a good point, which I failed to mention last night because I
was answering Mark's question of ownership rights more than actual
repositories of meteorite images. There are many very good meteorite
photographs online of thousands of meteorites. The links that Svend
provided are great examples. However this enforces my point that certain
rights need to be maintained by the copyright owner, and images do not
need to be released into the public domain to share them with everyone.

The Wiki Commons' meteorite photo collection is a great start! Most are
licensed under the "Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported" license
and requires attribution to the author.

There are gallery software programs I can install on the Meteorite Wiki
to provide a source for meteorite images. This will be a user
contributed gallery and all images uploaded to the gallery could be
licensed under the same Creative Commons Attribution license that would
provide credit to all authors.

In fact I would not mind even providing a "Contributors Page" on the
Meteorite Wiki as a thank you to all contributors. A page that would
allow all contributing authors whether they have contributed photos,
video, articles or papers to list their name and/or organization,
university, or community college, a brief summary description, and a
link to their organizations site if they have one.

Any ideas or thoughts?

And for those who've yet to vote in the poll, we need your vote!
www.meteoriteblog.com (poll is located in top right sidebar) Your vote
will be used to determine the direction the Meteorite Wiki will take.

Your vote helps!

Regards,
Eric
