As an example - when I bought the EL7 in tucson I was lead to belive that I had purchased nearly all of the material save for a few hundred grams each owned by Matteo and Adam Hupe. I described the material as such in my auctions and when some more of the stuff came out onto the market through other channels one person who bought some previously on ebay wrote me a note saying that he was less than happy about the situation finding out that more of the material was avalible than originally though. I explained the history of my purchase of the enstatite material and that seemed to satisfy the concerns of the buyer in question. I imagine similar sentiments have been felt by collectors thanks to all of the unique number NWA CO3s from a few years back - or more recently from the NWA pallasite that sold out with a TKW of a few hundred grams only for 5 more kgs to come out ont he market shortly thereafter (or so, dont recall specific weights off the top of my head). In this regard it deosnt really matter if the seller in question is knowingly misrepresenting the material with a lower than real TKW - it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a buyer to see the TKW go up and the value go down of something that is bought early in on the game. However I think the strongest evidence can be seen when buyers speak with their wallets. The gram sized slice of my new angrite I recently sold on ebay resulted in a final price of 200$/g - a fair margain over that of the price per gram nwa 2999 has sold for recently even in smaller peices. This could ahve several explainations: A) it's a fluke B) buyers didnt buy my belief that these rocks are likely paired and figured they were buying a new, unique angrite of low TKW or C) buyers apreciated being provided with as much information as possible. I have less than 5g of this stuff left to sell so i doubt I'll be able to establish any long term trends for it with such a small smaple - but taken at face value I think the numbers do say something. >From: "Walter Branch" <waltbranch_at_bellsouth.net> >To: "Meteorite List" <meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com> >Subject: [meteorite-list] Poll Results >Date: Thu, 19 Oct 2006 04:25:47 -0400 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from six.pairlist.net ([209.68.2.254]) by >bay0-mc7-f7.bay0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.2444); Thu, 19 >Oct 2006 01:28:31 -0700 >Received: from six.pairlist.net (localhost [127.0.0.1])by six.pairlist.net >(Postfix) with ESMTP id D1F9B2CE2D;Thu, 19 Oct 2006 04:26:01 -0400 (EDT) >Received: from mu.pair.com (mu.pair.com [209.68.1.23])by six.pairlist.net >(Postfix) with SMTP id 7D5772CE40for ><meteorite-list_at_lists6.meteoritecentral.com>;Thu, 19 Oct 2006 04:26:00 >-0400 (EDT) >Received: (qmail 53799 invoked by uid 7111); 19 Oct 2006 08:26:00 -0000 >Received: (qmail 53796 invoked from network); 19 Oct 2006 08:26:00 -0000 >Received: from mailwash5.pair.com (66.39.2.5)by mu.pair.com with SMTP; 19 >Oct 2006 08:26:00 -0000 >Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1])by mailwash5.pair.com >(Postfix) with SMTP id 3F22010607for ><meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com>;Thu, 19 Oct 2006 04:25:59 -0400 (EDT) >Received: from imf16aec.mail.bellsouth.net >(imf16aec.mail.bellsouth.net[205.152.59.64])by mailwash5.pair.com (Postfix) >with ESMTP id 0C5CA105FBfor <meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com>;Thu, 19 >Oct 2006 04:25:59 -0400 (EDT) >Received: from ibm56aec.bellsouth.net ([208.63.249.224])by >imf16aec.mail.bellsouth.net with ESMTP >id<20061019082559.SFSB472.imf16aec.mail.bellsouth.net_at_ibm56aec.bellsouth.net>for ><meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com>;Thu, 19 Oct 2006 04:25:59 -0400 >Received: from BranchFamily ([208.63.249.224]) by >ibm56aec.bellsouth.netwith SMTPid ><20061019082559.PUPX7165.ibm56aec.bellsouth.net_at_BranchFamily>for ><meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com>;Thu, 19 Oct 2006 04:25:59 -0400 >X-Message-Info: LsUYwwHHNt0+m41IPt793M08uMdcBHKqkWnzO7QtPAw= >X-Original-To: meteorite-list_at_lists6.meteoritecentral.com >Delivered-To: meteorite-list_at_six.pairlist.net >Delivered-To: >arthur-meteoritecentral:com-meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com >X-MSMail-Priority: Normal >X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2869 >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2962 >X-BeenThere: meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com >X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 >Precedence: list >List-Id: Meteorite Discussion Forum <meteorite-list.meteoritecentral.com> >List-Unsubscribe: ><http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list>,<mailto:meteorite-list-request_at_meteoritecentral.com?subject=unsubscribe> >List-Archive: <http://six.pairlist.net/pipermail/meteorite-list> >List-Post: <mailto:meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com> >List-Help: ><mailto:meteorite-list-request_at_meteoritecentral.com?subject=help> >List-Subscribe: ><http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list>,<mailto:meteorite-list-request_at_meteoritecentral.com?subject=subscribe> >Errors-To: meteorite-list-bounces_at_meteoritecentral.com >Return-Path: meteorite-list-bounces_at_meteoritecentral.com >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 19 Oct 2006 08:28:31.0931 (UTC) >FILETIME=[8FA5B0B0:01C6F358] > >Hello Everyone, > >I took a poll a few days again regarding the latest "discussion" between >dealers.
