The high speed sweep system works and the images are very sharp. The images can be found at: <http://news.com.com/2300-11397_3-6053635-1.html> The full rez image (page two of the article) has 98 inches to the pixel. When the orbit is lowered and circularized, the resolution will be 11 inches to the pixel. And, yes, Mars' surface looks different when the pictures are sharper and more detailed.
