Having no access to Red Devil lye, I read the list of ingredients on Liquid
Drano. It seems to be primarily lye-based, with waterglass and a few other
elements, so I am trying an experiment on my poor rusty Fredericksburg.
Liquid Drano + denatured (anhydrous) alcohol, a shot of each in a glass jar.
  The expected exothermic reaction did occur (it warmed up), so I took it as
a good sign. I will report back if the rust starts to dissolve, without
mayhem to the meteorite.
