But the picture clearly shows that this meteorite is an iron and not a pallasite. The etch pattern seems to be that of a IIIAB iron and this narrows my speculations down to the Tonganoxie IIIAB iron which was found in Leavenworth County in, well, 1886 :-( But, look what I've unearthed :-) BUCHWALD V.F. (1975) Handbook of Iron Meteorites, Volume 3, p. 1224: "According to Snow (1891) and Bailey (1891), the mass was irregular of shape, resembling a "lion couchant" (sleeping lion), and measuring 24 x 16 x 9 cm."
