Steve,
        Why? No one on earth would send 10 or 20 posts about a
"sale" they are having in one week, except, guess who? Most
dealers mention a sale once or twice a month at most. Many
of us only a few times a year. Those that do more than once
a month or so are limited to two or three individuals and they
NEVER repeat them on and on and on and on and on and on
and on and on and on.
        That is "why."
        However, I think I have a solution for you regarding the
resentment you are CONTINUALLY, getting from MORE THAN
A FEW (this should be a hint here, Steve, that the problem is
NOT all theirs. When only a few are critical, perhaps it can
be written of to their own problems. However, when DOZENS
of people resent what you are doing and say so, you can be
sure TEN TIMES THAT feel the same way but are "being nice"
or whatever and just not saying so. It is CLEAR that the problem
is originating with you - even if how some express their resentment
it is non-constuctive, or whatever. It is not at all logical to "write it
off," which is what you seem to be doing. By all means, take a step
back and own up to the fact that the problem originates with
something you are doing). Here is my suggestion:

1) Feel free to comment on any topic brought up by another list
member as often as you want - just like any other member of the
list.

2) For post about:
YOUR meteorite collection
YOUR free offers
YOUR sales
YOUR computer
YOUR camera
 ETC.
Write all the posts as frequently as you want BUT on a document - send
it to the list ONLY twice a week. Perhaps one on Tue and one on Fri, for
instance. You can write on the document several times a day - just wait
until the next Tue or Fri to send it (whichever comes first. You can repeat
your ads and free offers over and over to your heart's content - just don't
send it until the next Tue or Fri.
        If you do this, I think you will find negative commentary regarding
your posts drops to nearly zero and yet, you can write as often as you
like - just limit SENDING to two times a week.
        Please.
