As Martin mentioned, probably not dual oriented but certainly not what I'd call shrapnel either! For a good example of dual orientation have a look at the little Taza individual on the page below. It may be small but it's a beauty! ;-) http://www.meteorites.com.au/odds&ends/oriented.html Cheers, Jeff ----- Original Message ----- From: Darren Garrison To: meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com Sent: Tuesday, March 08, 2005 3:21 PM Subject: [meteorite-list] Is this Sihkote-Alin confused? I remember a couple of months back there was a discussion of "confused" Sihkote-Alin individuals. Well, recently, I bought a 7.7 gram Sihkote-Alin at a BIN of $5.00 that was described as shrapnel, but from the tiny photo looked as if it could be oriented. It arrived today, and not only does it seem oriented, but it even looks to me like it is oriented on both sides-- like the "confused" ones from a couple of months back. http://webpages.charter.net/garrison6328/sikhote_alin.jpg ______________________________________________ Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list Received on Tue 08 Mar 2005 12:28:11 AM PST |
