For most items I buy, I never get insurance or confirmation. I'm hundreds of dollars ahead - most things I buy aren't worth too much and are usually books which reliably arrive safe and sound. I've never had anything lost except once and it turns out it was only delayed about 6 months... I was sent a refund for the 2 books, but sent another check when I did get them. > One would not purchase an automobile and not carry insurance on it to > provide for a loss or damage. If I get something terribly expensive or get something for a great deal, I will usually get it insured. Especially on the latter because some folks may want to not send it at all if they feel they got skinned. They may feel it's best to not ship, send a refund and sell it later with a reserve, etc. I had thought that was what happened with the two books. That's when I decided to pay insurance, etc. for "good deals". I wouldn't expect a dealer to give me a refund on something I chose not to insure, but I wouldn't refuse such a nice gesture. If a person requires insurance, I'll gladly pay it, but if I don't think I'm in danger of wiping out my "special slush fund", I'm going to "add" to it... It's going to feel sweet when I cash it in on a Esquel slice from Haag or a PV from Robert Woolard... Ok, ok, it's just like the mythical Social Security "lock box", but it's money that I put into something. ;-) Happy collecting, Mark (knocking on wood...)
