"Olivine of the Shirokovsky rock was not equilibrated with the matrix melt." and "The clast-laden melt was cooled and crystallized rapidly, under oxidizing conditions." Sounds exactly like what you would expect from a blast furnace. This thing was not created in a reducing environment. It was created in an oxidizing environment and cooled very quickly with no equilibration. Ordinary sand could be suspended in the metal under these conditions. Cool water quick enough and you could suspend lead in an ice cube. here is the link, one more time, that explains this man-made mass: http://www.geokhi.ru/~meteorit/shirokovsky1-e.html All the best, Adam Received on Sun 17 Jul 2005 10:34:19 PM PDT |
