You have admonished a good portion of List members in the past for no good reason and you seem to have taken a particular liking to me. I normally would not respond to your rhetoric but you seem to have my motives mixed up. A few simple statements that might clear things up for you: We are primarily collectors. We sell material in order to help offset the enormous cost of acquiring, studying and to maintain our collection. As hard as it is to believe, overall we have never made a profit on meteorites. We spend far more than we take in. In the last five years we have invested more than any other collector in the world to improve our collection. This is what we are trying to protect, our enormous investment and the long-term value of our collection. If it was all about money we would still be running a successful corporate concern which is what paid for this collection. My brother and I even considered leasing treasure wreck sites in Florida and working them during the summer. Leasing a site, setting up a salvage vessel and crewing it would be about 1/4th our annual outlay for meteorites and the way things have been going, it may even be more fun. Our first love is meteorites, this is one of the reasons we are so protective of them. You could say one of our goals is to eliminate the less savory types from engaging in meteorites just for profit without concern for their real value, beauty or their fellow man. Bill, what have you done to improve this great avocation? I will have more to say on this subject soon, Respectfully, Adam ----- Original Message ----- From: <joseph_town_at_att.net> To: "Adam Hupe" <raremeteorites_at_comcast.net> Cc: <meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com> Sent: Thursday, November 11, 2004 9:19 PM Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Self Proclaimed Pairing List > Adam, > > You can study, you can admonish, you can try to establish yourself as the last word in meteorics. It's really sad that you aren't satisfied with what you have genuinely accomplished. Peddle your stones as you see fit but I for one can live without this long range plan you are presenting to dominate the market. It's transparent and offensive. You will never own the numbers or the minds of the majority. > > Bill > > > -------------- Original message ---------------------- > From: "Adam Hupe" <raremeteorites_at_comcast.net> > > Dear List, > > > > While studying the problems associated with number borrowing I came up with > > a list of the most abused names.
