Hi Tracy, Jeff and List,

I bought two specimens from Mike - one is an olivine crystal (how
beautiful) and a fragment. Both display almost opal-type translucency from
the olivine crystals. One crystal is just beneath the surface and is
mesmerizing.

  Thanks Mike.

Happy Holidays all,

G'day Tracy and List,

I certainly agree. I was lucky enough to get a nice piece from Mike (thanks
Mike) which I have put onto a page at my site. What is really amazing about
this piece is that one of the olivine crystals has a rainbow effect/colour.
Hard to describe so the pics are here:

If anyone has any opinions about how this would form or occur, I'd certainly
like to hear them.

Cheers,

I just got a thumbnail AL Mahbas from Mike Farmer. If you haven't already,
I suggest you seriously consider getting a piece for yourself, or at least
look at the pix he has on his site, as well as the ones up for sale at
arizonaskies. My chip has at least a couple of translucent olivine
crystals, and an interesting coating of what may be desert varnish. Now I
need to find a membrane box to display this beauty; my normal 1x1 display
boxes won't do it justice.

Thanks, Mike!
Tracy Latimer
