On Sunday forenoon, a mock sun was distinctly seen for about two hours - portentous, as we are told, of stormy weather. There has been a good deal of lightning during the week; and early on Tuesday morning, several peals of thunder were heard. - Our forefathers believed that "winter thunder brought summer hunger." However much we may be disposed to hold these saws in reverence, we hope they will not be realised in the present instance. - Montrose Paper. (end) Mark note: Realized is misspelled “realized” in last line. Also “saws” might be a mistype of original author for “laws”?? Received on Sun 12 Dec 2004 11:44:37 AM PST |
