Date: Thu Apr 22 10:31:10 2004 Message-ID: <DIIE.0000003F00001D9D_at_paulinet.de> Tschermak (1872b) described the Shergotty meteorite as a variety of eucrite in which the plagioclase is represented by maskelynite. Brezina (1904) elevated it to a distinct type named shergottite. However, the utility of such a distinction is not obvious, and Shergotty and the only other meteorite of this type, Padvarnikai, are here classed as eucrites. Reference: B.
