If it turns out to be an astroblehme , it would certainly be the largest ever found. If not, it is the closest nature has ever come to eroding out an almost perfect half circle in a coastline. The last I heard about this suspected impact site, was a 3 year old article published by the Canadian Geologic Survey, saying that it was very difficult drilling core material up there, and it may take a long time before any kind of analysis is available. I also got the impression that they were having a hard time funding the work to be done. I also heard that there was a larger unconformity in the land mass around the coast (rim?) but there was no definitive evidence that it was caused by an impatct as yet. Anyone know of the principles involved in this search, or any new news?
