Hi List,
According to the Catalogue of Meteorites, BM(NH), the Oroville 54 lb iron
was found in 1893 at Butte County, Calif. and it gives the following
coordinates: 39 deg 41' N 121 deg 38' W. mentioning that it was found 10
miles N of Oroville, according to O.C.Farrington, Mem. Nat. Acad. Sci.
Washington, 1915, 13, p.345. The Catalogue also reports its main mass of 46
lb to be at San Francisco Acad. Sci.; a 401gr at US Nat Mus. Washington; a
315g in Chicago's Field Mus. Nat Hist. and a 281g at NY Amer. Mus. Nat
Hist.;
Outside of the USA: There is a 117g piece at Vienna Naturhist. Mus. and 2
other pieces of 308g and 62g both at the British Museum of Nat. Hist.
