I switched something else A Ekman did on both dates that led to my confusion. The site is consistent still. Spring Valley is north of Oroville. Around 1900 Oroville took up mainly 2 blocks, and Spring Valley was seen to be 10 miles out. Nowadays Oroville has had a century of growing, and the town edge is now a lot closer to Spring Valley. I guess it all depends on what time reference you wish to consider.
