Unfortunately..........the dinosaurs took that secret with them to the grave, before it could be proven. Guess it didn't work. But in the meantime, the human alternative research and methods ,( you would think it would be a primary concern wouldn't you?) since the "when?" is the only given, are being speculated on. Hope we come up with something better than the dinosaurs did. I don't have Bruce's phone number on hand to ask him , so does anyone know if we do have a real "zero barrier", enabling us to deflect an asteroid before it hits that barrier. and not have it hit earth, or was that just in the script? Had to ask naturally, Regards, Marcie --WebTV-Mail-4353-163 Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Message/RFC822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Received: from smtpinvite-3101.bay.webtv.net (209.240.204.241) by storefull-2158.public.lawson.webtv.net with WTV-SMTP; Tue, 21 Oct 2003 11:06:38 -0700 (PDT) Received: from pairlist.net (pairlist.net [216.92.1.92]) by smtpinvite-3101.bay.webtv.net (WebTV_Postfix+sws) with ESMTP id 51757BE08; Tue, 21 Oct 2003 11:06:37 -0700 (PDT) Received: from pairlist.net (localhost.pair.com [127.0.0.1]) by pairlist.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 80A335372F; Tue, 21 Oct 2003 14:06:32 -0400 (EDT) Delivered-To: meteorite-list_at_pairlist.net Received: from mu.pair.com (mu.pair.com [209.68.1.23]) by pairlist.net (Postfix) with SMTP id 12235535DE for <meteorite-list_at_lists.meteoritecentral.com>; Tue, 21 Oct 2003 14:04:34 -0400 (EDT) Received: (qmail 95975 invoked by uid 7111); 21 Oct 2003 18:04:34 -0000 Delivered-To: arthur-meteoritecentral:com-meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com Received: (qmail 95972 invoked from network); 21 Oct 2003 18:04:33 -0000 Received: from web60002.mail.yahoo.com (216.109.116.225) by mu.pair.com with SMTP; 21 Oct 2003 18:04:33 -0000 Message-ID: <20031021180433.71699.qmail_at_web60002.mail.yahoo.com> Received: from [4.46.189.69] by web60002.mail.yahoo.com via HTTP; Tue, 21 Oct 2003 19:04:33 BST From: Howard Wu <freewu2000_at_yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Mystery Asteroid, Hermes, May Have a Partner To: Meteorite Mailing List <meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com> In-Reply-To: <200310211503.IAA09403_at_zagami.jpl.nasa.gov> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="0-1419185722-1066759473=:69811" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Sender: meteorite-list-admin_at_meteoritecentral.com Errors-To: meteorite-list-admin_at_meteoritecentral.com X-BeenThere: meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com X-Mailman-Version: 2.0 Precedence: bulk List-Help: <mailto:meteorite-list-request_at_meteoritecentral.com?subject=help> List-Post: <mailto:meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com> List-Subscribe: <http://www.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list>, <mailto:meteorite-list-request_at_meteoritecentral.com?subject=subscribe> List-Id: Meteorite Discussion Forum <meteorite-list.meteoritecentral.com> List-Unsubscribe: <http://www.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list>, <mailto:meteorite-list-request_at_meteoritecentral.com?subject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: <http://www.pairlist.net/pipermail/meteorite-list/> Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2003 19:04:33 +0100 (BST) X-Brightmail: Message tested, results are inconclusive --0-1419185722-1066759473=:69811 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit >For years, scientists have pondered the added difficulty of dealing with a binary asteroid that might one day take aim on Earth.
