I = can see that selling crystals could result in the packing material = weighing more than the sample, but to advertise this total weight in the = header of an auction is not right.=20 Ebay has a place for the seller to put the shipping costs . And the = header and or description of the specimen listed should not include the = packing materials weight. =20 I do believe this probably was not done to fool anyone and is an = honest mistake. But this seller needs to be more clear on what he is offering weight = wise.=20 I have not checked his other auctions as I am not terribly = interested in the minerals he sells , And maybe this is an accepted = method to figure out shipping costs for his minerals , But as I stated = earlier this total weight should not be added to the specimens weight = and then placed on the header of any auction mineral or meteorite. What = would that make a 1 carat diamond weigh ;-) =20 Well I am done with this string . =20 Regards to all Steven Drummond TUC :-) =20 ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Pekka Savolainen=20 Cc: Steven Drummond ; meteorite list=20 Sent: Friday, May 23, 2003 1:40 PM Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] weight descrepency Hello, Steven and the list, think there must be some missunderrestanding in this. Pareja Minerals = (Morfita) sells mainly=20 mineralspecimens, and that=B4s why their system of shipping charges is = quite complicated. If you buy some crystals, the packing material may weight more than the = specimen. I bought lately 236 grams Rissani from the dealer, and that was the = exact weight of the spec. Anyway, they sell more minerals than meteorites, and as far as I know, = this dealer is quite well-known and trusted in this sector. Think Carlos speaks better = spanish than english, so is it possible, there is some missunderrestanding because of that? This is just my opinion, but my experiences with Pareja Minerals has = been better than good. They are professionals in minerals (not so much in meteorites), so = it=B4s quite hard to belive, a well-known dealer would make this kind of trick on purpose. But who = knows, this is a strange world... Think at least Bob Keller from Rockhound in US should know this = seller, he can be reached from his site; http://www.rockhounds.com/bkeller/ take care, pekka ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Steven Drummond=20 To: meteorite list=20 Sent: Friday, May 23, 2003 12:03 PM Subject: [meteorite-list] weight descrepency Hi List, I recently won 2 auctions from a seller at ebay called = MORFITA. He was auctioning the Rissani Morocco meteorites a few people = were asking about on the list. in his heading he states the weight of = the available meteorite, then in the description he states........=20 "The weight of each item corresponds with its weight when it is = prepared for ets shipment." Now what this really means is that , The weight of this item = in this auction includes the packing material and the Box it is to be = shipped in. This is very deceiving. Well he has lost 1 of the pieces I bid on and the other weighs = less than 1/2 of what he had listed in the heading for this = auction,(because the box And packing material weighed more that the = meteorite). I should have received 102 grams of meteorite in 2 pieces , = and I received 1 meteorite that weighed 17.67 gram.=20 Now I have asked him for one 85 gram meteorite to correct this = problem. His reply ................. =20 " We can send you another meteorite that = weighed, with the included packing, about 62 grams. =20 I believe that this it is the best solution, since us in our it = paginates of ebay we explain that of the weight of the specimens = clearly." =20 So I believe he will send around a 30 gram stone this time. I = have never seen anybody include the packing material and box in the = weight of what is being offered. And I would never bid on anything this = small that was not classified. What a deceiving way to advertise your = products. I certainly will not be bidding on this persons auctions = again. And maybe next time I will have to decipher the description = closely before bidding again. =20 Has anybody on this list ever seen anybody add the weight of the = packing material and box to the piece and list it as such in the heading = of the auction ?=20 I just received a new email from the seller he has changed his = wording on this matter, But how confusing is this = statement................. "The weight of the specimens is its real weight. When making = purchases of several specimens, the weight of this specimens are = increased 50% to calculate the shipping cost. when the packages are = ready for shipment, we weigh them again, and if it's difference to your = favor among the shipping cost you have paid and the final shipping cost = result, we refund you your money. Oh well, Have a great day list, Regards, Steven Drummond = TUC :-) =20 . --=20 Pekka Savolainen Jokiharjuntie 4 FIN-71330 Rasala FINLAND + 358 400 818 912 Group Home Page: http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/eurocoin Group Email Address: eurocoin_at_smartgroups.com ------=_NextPart_000_0016_01C32135.44E75360 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.50.4611.1300" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hi, The seller has agreed to send = me a refund=20 if it is what I want.
