Meteorite Falls Through Garage Roof In Colorado
CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) - A meteorite, nearly six inches long and four inc=
hes wide, fell through the roofof Jack Stevens' garage.
Stevens thought it was just a rock and was about to throw it out when she=
riff's officers persuaded him to call experts.
Scientists from the American Meteorite Laboratory in Denver confimed that=
 the rock was a meteorite.
Part of the meteorite will be sent to the Smithsonian Institution in Wash=
ington and other pieces will be given to the UInited States Geological Su=
rvey.

Mark note: This meteorite, named Canon City, has been classified as an H6=
 stone chondrite. It fell on October 27, 1973 and the stone recovered wei=
ghed 1.378kg, which is close to three pounds.
