Title: The Landmark =20
City: Statesville, North Dakota =20
Date: Thursday, September 09, 1948

Beaver City, Nebraska, Sept. 9. - The meteorite caused quite a stir after=
it fell from the skies in February and landed in a field. Scientists hav=
e just succeeded in removing it, but it was quite a job. The meteorite we=
ighs more than a ton and is believed to be the largest authentic find of =
its type.
Scientists removed it from the earth, encased it in plaster of paria and =
burlap and used a crane to hoist it onto a truck. The meteorite now is at=
the University of New Mexico for study, but it eventually will be split =
in two and one-half will be given to the University of Nebraska.
