If you search the list archives you can find his address. If you want to do a non-destructive test on your "glass splatter" use a needle or pin and try to scratch the surface. If it is glass, as you say, then there will be no scratch, but this will not prove that it is glass, only that it isn't. Most of your material has been cut and examined further. If I have time I will send you a photo taken with the aid of a microscope to show you the mineral "growth" rings of the manganese. X-ray analysis at this time is still not warranted as it takes time and money; and the University and myself are not willing to spend time or money on this project. Another possible experiment you can try, if you don't have HCL, is to use vinegar and place some of the gravel calcite matrix in it and you will observe bubbles slowly forming from the carbonates. Another mineral within your specimens is barite (barium); this commonly occurs with manganese carbonates. This list has many well educated persons that have and will go out of their way to help most people. This has been demonstrated by others as well as myself. Sincerely, Dirk Ross...Tokyo Mark Jackson wrote: > Hey I never said I had tekites. I beleive those were found and > collected 80 miles NNE of here by a gentleman named Nickolai.
