Dear Michael,
I know if anyone is a pillar of propriety on the list, you are, thats
why I made sure I added the endearment and smiley face after the
comment.
I really do have the Best interests of our List at heart. I was not
offended. Indeed, when I first joined, you were one of the first people
nice enough to introduce yourself and offer your services and a link to
your then website, in April of this year. I am a Believer, but I am not
a fanatatic, and try to keep that as off-list as people let me. When you
made the post about waking up smelling smoke, and calling for prayers a
few months back, I did just that. The comment about being struck by
lightening for offending Nuns, was made more tongue in cheek. Sorry you
misunderstood my meaning.
I was invited to join Matteo's list, a month or more ago. I posted a
letter to our list, a note of intent and declaration, that I was going
to check it out, last month, and why ( check the archives if you have
doubt). I have been reading his posts, but have not addressed this List
yet. I am not a tale-carrier, but in this one case, when Steve mentioned
the nuns and Tuscon, I know he thought it wasa joke, but having read the
posts on the other list, I knew that she was serious, which is why I
broke my self-imposed confidentuality rule, to let you all know that it
was NOT a joke. I was honestly trying to keep up our reputation, and
respect her privacy as an alternative group and....as a fellow-meteorite
collector, let her know, and others on that list know, that mentioned
coming to Tucson, that one person ( Steve), did not represent the
feelings of our whole group, and to future meteorite enthusiasts, ect.,
whatever their slot in everyday life is, as collectors they are welcome.
That's all. Sorry for the misunderstanding, and thank-you for the
compliment., and explanation.
Hope we can put this behind us, I have. High Regards Michael, Marcie

Dear Marci,
I NEVER would have publicly reproduced your email had
I known it was, in fact, a private one. However, it was designated
"[meteorite-list]" in the subject box - I, therefore, thought it
had come from the list - even though, when I hit "Reply All" it
failed to include the list address - I thought it was a glitch and
pasted the list address "back" in.
Entirely sorry if you were offended in any way. Certainly not
my intent, and I do apologize for making a private post public. I
consider that VERY poor form, indeed.
However, this is something all list members should be aware of:
Leaving "[meteorite-list]" in the subject box of PRIVATE emails leaves
a lot of room for mistaken communication:
1) Many of us get TONS of email and do not always read each and
every list post, so, your private email may well go unread
2) It could easily lead to the mistake you see here
3) It does not reflect the best "protocol" one might hope for in
correspondence (honestly, no slam intended here, Marci - you
are clearly a kind and intelligent person and we are all lucky to
have another female on the meteorite list! A rare type, the female
meteorite enthusiast).
        Best wishes to all, Michael
