I've been using a Lortone 8" trim saw, and I love it. May be too pricey for your budget, though. Mine ran around $350 or so, new. (It's around $330 now.) You can get them from Kingsley North, Inc. Link: < ">h <http://www.kingsleynorth.com/trimsaws.html> ttp://www.kingsleynorth.com/trimsaws.html> > I think I want more of a trim saw, just for cutting small meteorites. You can get by with a 6" saw, then. > What type of blades would you use if you were to cut an Iron > and what kind for chondrites or do you use one type for both? I've not yet had to cut an iron so someone else can advise on that. (I wouldn't use a diamond saw blade. My guess is that CBN is the preferred choice.) I use a very thin diamond blade for all my stone meteorite cutting. Don't skimp on the blade! Cheap saw blades don't last long, so the extra cost of a good blade is more than made up for in lifetime. > Is there a popular brand the meteorite community uses? I use the MK 1000 Saber Diamond blade -- the 3-0094 model on this link: http://www.kingsleynorth.com/blades.html <http://www.kingsleynorth.com/blades.html> Not too expensive, very thin, and cuts like a champ... --Rob ------_=_NextPart_001_01C25AA7.93575E50 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <META content="MSHTML 5.00.3315.2870" name=GENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY> <DIV><FONT color=#0000ff face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=774374721-12092002>Hi Tom,</SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#0000ff face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=774374721-12092002></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#0000ff face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=774374721-12092002>> Hello List, I was hoping some one could give me advice on a rock saw.</SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#0000ff face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=774374721-12092002>> I am looking into buying one, but know nothing about them.</SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#0000ff face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=774374721-12092002></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#0000ff face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=774374721-12092002></SPAN></FONT><FONT color=#0000ff face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=774374721-12092002>I've been using a Lortone 8" trim saw, and I love it.
