I rectified it by soaking in a NaOH/Isoprop solution, washing off with deionised water after soaking for a week or so, then re-soaking in isoprop for another few days, drying in the oven at just above 100 deg C for about 1/2 hour (depending on thickness...) then dropping the hot mass back into isoprop (watch this bit - can be very dangerous indeed!!!). And finally finished it off by rubbing candle wax into the surface which imparts no sheen or gloss but fills the small pores with a water resistant plug that is invisible - a bit of a palaver but it seems to have worked for the past year. Good luck....! -- In gentle decay, dave IMCA #0092 imca_0092_at_hotmail.com (for IMCA member contact) http://www.meteorites.ic24.net/index.html http://www.meteoritecollectors.org "I have a proof that x^n+y^n=z^n never has integer solutions for n>2.
