Hi all -

My thanks to Bernd, Tonu, and Pierre for their
messages on the Kaali impact event, which I passed on
to the Cambridge Conference. Thanks!

Early Wednesday morning I saw a nice meteorite entry
while driving home, and I hope that some of you will
enjoy this short account of it.

I had been out playing my bass at a local bar, and was
returning home when I noticed a streak in the sky. I
was driving towards Culpepper on Virginia State Road
3, just before it meets with State Route 613, so I
suppose I could dig up an exact bearing if needed.
The time was 3:13 in the morning.

Upon seeing the streak, my first thought was that
perhaps there had been an accidental launch on
Washington DC, as the color was greenish, but I
quickly realized that what I was watching was instead
a meteorite entry. The angle of fall was from about 1
o'clock to 7 o'clock.

At first it appeared that the meteorite flamed out,
and then appeared to start to flame again just slight
to the west. Upon reflection, I realize now that what
I saw was the entry of 2 seperate meteorites, with the
first one reaching free fall at a height of about 7
inches up my windshield, and the other appearing to
reach free fall at the top of tree line level.

While I really don't have the time right now to post a
proper fireball report, and though we all know the
difficulties involved in triangulation and then
search, I would be interested in reading other reports
of these entries.

all the best, and thanks to all -

ep
