Hm!? Looks like a NWA at first sight but it's just a photo, no more no less :-( > A 1-pound iron meteorite was found near Emmittsburg, in Frederick County, in > 1854. Another, weighing almost 3 pounds, was plowed up in Garrett County, near > Lonaconing, in 1888. There has been some confusion about the Emmitsburg IIIAB iron. Both Buchwald and the Catalogue state that the Shrewsbury IAB iron was found in Pennsylvania. But, on p. 565 of his trilogy, Buchwald writes that "Shrewsbury was found in Maryland". The reason for this confusion is that there is a place called Shrewsbury both in Maryland and in Pennsylvania (actually, there are nine Shrewsburys in the USA :-) Best wishes, Bernd Received on Thu 28 Feb 2002 01:15:56 PM PST |
