Linga or Lingam (masculine) Phallic symbol of the Indian god Shiva.
(While theoretically made of white stone, the linga can be formed from
numerous materials, and can be destroyed after the ceremony of adoration.
The worship of the linga, addressed to Shiva's aspect as creator,
does not evoke any erotic image in Indian thought).
