I noticed in the LASCO C3 imagery today that there was a full-halo coronal outburst starting around 11:40 UT (9 October). It wasn't particularly bright, but it was quite symmetric, indicating that it was oriented toward earth. This could lead to good midlatitude aurora conditions by Thursday. Go to the following link: <http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime/javagif/> click the GIF (512x512) and C3 radio buttons, and then click Submit Query. (If you have a slow connection, you may want to do the 256x256 movie instead.) Cheers, Rob Received on Tue 09 Oct 2001 11:34:04 PM PDT |
