I received a very similar letter (below) and after a little research found the following. The link is to a site found by a search with Altavista for General Sani Abacha. NOTE THAT THIS IS AN EXERCISE (?) AT THE U OF TEXAS http://www.altavista.com/r?r=http://link.lanic.utexas.edu/menic/oil/game/simulation/profiles/1997/0055.html "General Sani Abacha GCON, Mni Head of State, Commander in Chief of the Armed WARNING! This is NOT the real world. You have joined a simulation of Middle Eastern diplomacy being conducted by students from the University of Texas at Austin and other universities in the USA and abroad. Welcome to our game!" Re: URGENT BUSINESS PROPOSAL TO Joe Sarphie Date: Tue, 06 Mar 2001 23:31:13 -0800 From: Joe Sarphie <jsarphie_at_earthlink.net> To: amadi2000esq_at_yahoo.com References: 1 SO.. They are looking for business accounts outside of Nigeria to wire transfer monies. Unfortunately any monies in the accounts only get transfered TO Nigeria. The only good thing about this was the Nigerian stamps you used to get. You don't even get those with internet correspondence. STAY REAL FAR AWAY FROM THIS!!. Sorry to burden the list with this off topic subject but have known people who nearly feel for it. Seems that greed tends to cloud one's good judgment. I worry that there would be someone foolish enough to actually get hooked into this trap. BEWARE.
