Greetings Dear Listees:

For those of you who enjoy the technical side of meteoritics, there
is an interesting paper in the current (or nearly current) issue of
"Science," dated March 2, pgs 1776 - 1779. I believe Ron may have
posted a news release about this paper last week?

Anyway, it's entitled "A New Astrophysical Setting for Chondrule
Formation," and is co-authored by the very distinguished group of
Krot, Meibom, Russell, Alexander, Jeffries, and Keil. The paper is
illustrated with several color and b/w X-Ray maps of Hammadah al
Hamra 237.

In other news: The spring show season got off to an early start here
on the U.S. east coast, with the Clifton Mineral Show, in nearby
Clifton, NJ, over the weekend. Three local mineral/fossil dealers had
a number of meteorites for sale, and List member Geoff Cintron of
Island Meteorite stopped by to check out the dinosaur footprints,
opalized ammonites from Montana, and perfect fully-crusted
Juanchengs. Sometimes there are real bargains to be found at your
local shows!

There is life after Tucson. : )

Regards,

Geoff N.

A paleontologist has more cause than most to reflect upon time: its
measurement, its span, and its consequences.
