Dear Robert, Michael and List;
Pardon my "what if" scenario. What if... to demonstrate Robert's point...I
buy 50 kilos of NWA rocks in assorted piece sizes and beauty (ugly) ranges
and plant them in an isolated sand dune area in SW Wyoming for say two
years....then, I proclaim a new find. I even strategically place the new
strewnfield and pick up as I laid out, with a GPS and fully document it, I
could even have someone else discover it for me to create even a better hoax.
In two years of new sand blasting, (with Wyoming's wind and temperature
changes), I would be impressed to see how the fraud would result and if it
could indeed be exposed.. I think that this is what Robert is questioning in
his "do something" suggestion.
http://www.wyomingjade.com/meteor3.htm is a strategically placed
meteorwrong, worm coprolite with magnesium "fusion" crust, to illustrate my
point. WOW, Put me on ebay!!!!!
I would never commit meteorite fraud, but, I am sure others would think of
this story and very well would use the NWA's as a cheap source of investment
for profit meteorites. I agree with Robert, SOME method of tracking original
source is needed.
The historical 1872 diamond hoax site is 60 miles south of here and African
diamonds are still occasionally found there along with other planted
gemstones.
Blued, glued, or tattooed,
Dave Freeman
