Sterling K. Webb > _______________________________________________ Hi Sterling, No. Lawrencide disease is detectable by a yellow-rusty colored oozing pus. What you MAY be seeing in the S-A photos could be a result of a "color adjustment" made in a softwear processing program such as "Adobe Photoshop." One can take a very rusty S-A photo and drive the extremes of one color and minimize another. The result is a VERY dark image of the specimen that appears almost black - and sometimes very glossy black. Whenever I see that, I suspect rust covered up by digital color adjustment. While that is not ALWAYS the case - it is the only way I know of that can be done and I can't imagine why one would make those color shifts if the specimen didn't have rust you wanted to conceal. In any event, in the photos on the site, I was impressed with a LACK "white distortion" which inevitably occerrs when I mess with color extremes, which is often nessessary to get a true color representation in some lights. So, that may be all he was doing - though I see rust in the photos, as is, anyway. DEFINATELY NOT LAWRENCITE DISEASE. (as far as I know, it is unknown in S-A) Other list members may be more helpful.
