In a message dated 99-10-14 15:31:02 EDT, you write:
>>The Mars Polar Lander, due to arrive in December, was built by the same
>team and is being checked out now.<<
Ron>>It has already been checked and verified not to be a problem. The
error was
in the data relating to the reaction wheels on the orbiter; the lander
doesn't carry reaction wheels.<<
What are "reaction wheels"? I get this mental image of a spacecraft being
powered by a team of hamsters running a wheeled cage in circles.
