In a message dated 08/10/99 01:14:12 GMT, you write:
<< However, before radio waves were discovered and
understood.... there was no basis for FM 105.5......but now, it's my
favorite station!
You disbelieve....only because you cannot understand the mechanism of its'
existence. >>
No, I'm not in a position to believe or disbelieve, but I'm certainly
sceptical.
The point I'm trying to make is that ball lightning events have not been
witnessed, studied or recorded in sufficient numbers to make any clear
judgement. With small number statistics you can only cross your fingers and
guess.
Many people reading these posts may assume that ball lightning is an accepted
phenomenon....it isn't!
If meteor fireball reports are being explained away as ball lightning, then
that's risky. Keeping an open mind is one thing, but there is no basis for
declaring ball lightning as absolute fact, or for substituting it for a
meteor fireball.
Anyway, enough of all that I guess. Mike Farmer's counting his emails and I
bet my name's near the top of his "naughty" list by now, so I'd better stop.
Cheers,
Rob.
