Re: Odd meteorite on Ebay-Earlier post
Hi Joel,
I am not going after anyone. We never did things that way and never
will. When we see something that is not classified, we kindly ask what
type it is and if it has been checked. We also suggest that if they had
it authenticated, it would be worth far more. We don't threaten
anyone. My point was that the person selling what everyone thought as
basalt, was honest in saying that he wasn't sure it was a meteorite in
his auction description.
Also, the "trashing" of the UK seller I quoted, was from Dean Bessey if
you read my post. I wasn't quoting you. If you said it, I took it from
Dean's post.
You misunderstand me. What was trying to say is that I really don't
feel like doing this anymore, and if members of the list want to start
talking about and monitoring ebay, then by all means, go for it. People
have a right to know. I think there are some people interested here in
eBay and what is offered there. It was taboo to even mention here back
in April. The seller of the rhino or hippo only lists it as a Ureilite
with no other identification. I think ones time would be better spent
checking out that piece than the basalt one. But, I'm retiring so
someone else can do it.
Best wishes,
Dave
