Dear Listees,
Got a comment from a reader about the "figure 8s" referred to by the
witness of the Norton County bolide when he was 11 years old. I
rationalized it in the following way - but, perhaps another list member
has a better explaination:

Oh, the figure 8s - yes, that is strange - but wind currents can do
miraculous things - especially if one is looking at a given angle -
things can be moved at different levels sideways, and from the back (or
front) look REALLY strange - that would be my guess. Certainly, the
bolide didn't do figure 8s - but it's trail could appear to have.
