Re: Meteor increase worries scientists
Hi All,
Being an amateur astronomer besides a meteorite collector, the recent rise in
bolide or fireball sightings may be from the recent comets that have visited
our neck of the woods so to speak. I have been looking up for the past three
decades and after several recent comets have made their trips through, I have
noticed a rise in large fireballs and bolides.
Although it may seem we are seeing more activity, it may be activity related to
these comets. On the other hand we may be on a slump from astroid impact debris
arriving here at this time (though I don't know).
We as humans live such short life spans compared to the long spans of our solar
system and galaxy. It is really hard to tell until much data is accumulated
over millenniums as to what the true dynamics of our system is with major
impacts etc. Certainly the layers of the Earth show such impacts and is a good
barometer for watching in our future for such climate changing events.
